C. Fred Higgs III
C. Fred Higgs III and his wife, Terese, have been married since 2004 and are the proud parents of three children who attend Logos Preparatory Academy. As a family, they cherish spending time together, playing board games, watching their children compete in team sports, and enjoying family-friendly movies. Fred and Terese serve their church community as small group co-leaders, and Fred finds great joy in teaching Adult Bible Fellowship.
Fred is a Mechanical Engineering professor at Rice University, where he also serves as Vice Provost of Academic Affairs and directs a center in the School of Engineering. After over a decade at Carnegie Mellon University, he joined Rice in 2016 and continues to lead a research lab, oversee educational programs, and shape university administration.
Since becoming part of the Logos Prep community in 2018, the Higgs family has embraced the University-Model approach. Fred considers it a "BIG" advantage in education, offering (1) a Biblical worldview that magnifies God’s glory in all subjects and extracurricular activities, (2) intellectual rigor through a strong college-preparatory curriculum, and (3) the gift of more time for parents to instill their faith and values at home.
