Retreat Wrap-Up

August 24, 2023
By Joel Gutowsky

That’s a wrap folks! Our Secondary Student Retreat has come and gone and it was an amazing success.

This year we took 278 students and 43 chaperones to Carolina Creek where we played games and relays, built relationships, sang, heard the Scriptures taught and most of all, sweated.

Throughout the weekend we taught about the importance of faith and our part in growing in our faith. Faith in Christ is not a passive thing. We are called to show up, day in and day out and depend on Christ for all things. We are to trust in his promises. We are to put ourselves in situations where we can grow to be more like Christ, even when we don’t want to.

One of the best parts of retreat is that for about 30 hours we get to toss seeds. Between the end of retreat and the end of the school year we get to water and wait for the harvest. Our prayer is that our students will grow in their faith this year. That they would leave this school year more in love with Jesus, that they would grow in their Christlikeness, and that they would grow to trust Him more.

May this be our prayer for all of us.
