Commitment #3

October 19, 2023
By Tammy McIlvoy

“We are committed to supporting and equipping families who love the Lord and have a desire to be actively engaged in the Christian education and discipleship of their children.”

When hiring any new employee, we explore several non-negotiables. The first non-negotiable is a deep love of the Lord. This is essential for the parents of Logos Prep students as well. This is because our powerful and strategic partnership is dependent on like mindedness around our love of Jesus and desire to advance His kingdom in the hearts of the children. Discipleship is both a core value and expressed priority within our school community. The Bible gives parents primary responsibility in the discipleship of their children. In Deuteronomy 6:4-9, parents are commanded to impress the things of God into their children’s hearts through teaching and example. As a Christian school, Logos Prep has the privilege to come alongside parents in this endeavor. Parents are primary, but not solo. This is the heart behind the third commitment made by the Logos Prep Board of Directors at their summer strategy meeting.

“We are committed to supporting and equipping families who love the Lord and have a desire to be actively engaged in the Christian education and discipleship of their children.”

The Logos Prep family is not simply a consumer of or passive participant in Christian education but an active and engaged partner with the school. Together, we are deeply invested in developing young men and women who are strong in their faith and equipped to impact the world for Christ. Firstly, because this is the direct command of Christ. (See Matthew 28:19-10 and Ephesians 4:11-16) Secondly, we recognize that today’s children are being shaped into tomorrow’s adults. The fruit of their lives is being cultivated in them today.

In his book Handoff, Jeff Myers says, “Someone will train the next generation. The question is who, and for what purpose.” Many great thinkers have echoed these thoughts.

“The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”
Abraham Lincoln

“All who have meditated on the art of governing mankind have been convinced that the fate of empires depends on the education of youth.” Aristotle

We partner because we believe that the people our students are becoming matters and what they will impact is consequential. We partner because we know that together, the school, church and family can join to form a cord of three strands that is not easily broken.

“Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ephesians 4:12.

Thank you for partnering with us. We count it as a privilege to take this journey of education and discipleship with you and your family. For our philosophy on discipleship, please click here.
